Sorensen relishing Villa return

Goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has said he will enjoy playing against his former club Aston Villa, but only if Stoke get their first away win of the season.

Sorensen, who joined the Potters from Villa in July, will make his first return to Villa Park on Sunday.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I had five great years there and the way it ended had nothing to do with the fans of the club, it just happened.

"I'm delighted to be at Stoke now and I'm going there to win the game."

The Danish international made 158 appearances for Villa after joining the club from Sunderland in August 2003.

"It's a place that I love to play, if the fans appreciate what I did there then I'll get some applause, if not then it doesn't matter," said Sorensen.

"They're playing well and we know their threats. We need to deal with that and we'll be ready for them on Sunday."

The Potters, who have not completed a double over any team in the Premier League this season, beat Villa 3-2 at the Britannia Stadium in August with an injury-time winner from Mamady Sidibe.
