City's £6m swoop for Kompany.Manchester City are closing in the £ 6m signing of Vincent Kompany from Hamburg.
The versatile 22-year-old Belgian international is regarded as the answer to the Blues' midfield defensive headache but can also play in central defence.
It is planned to complete negotiations today and could even be in the team to play West Ham at the weekend.
Kompany signing is likely to be the precursor to more arrivals at Eastlands with a striker Mark Hughes next following agenda on the production of talks with Thaksin Shinawatra, owner and executive chairman Garry Cook yesterday.
