Man City agree fee for Real Madrid star Robinho


New Manchester City signing Robinho has set its sites on a first Premier League title at Eastlands.

The 24-year signed by Real Madrid for a British record £ 32.4m City withdrew as a major blow just before the Monday deadline for transfer.

"I want to help the manager and the team win the Premier League is my ambition," he told the club website.

"I knew that this city are a great club, there is a great team and this is an exciting project."

After an injection of funds from new investors in Abu Dhabi, United Group, City managed to outmanoeuvre Chelsea to bring the Brazilian to Eastlands.

Robinho appeared certain to move to Stamford Bridge, is telling a press conference on Sunday: "I am only thinking of Chelsea" as he tried to engineer a move away from Madrid.

But he said the chance to team up with his international team co-Jo Elano and the city was a key factor in his decision to join Mark Hughes.

"They are my friends," said Robinho.

"Having these major players in the City is one reason why I decided to come here."

Robinho Hughes met in London on Tuesday before flying to South America, Brazil 2010 World Cup against Chile and Bolivia.

"I met the director and it went very well," he added.

"I know he was a great player and I think will be a great help to me."

Robinho was also pleased to hear that the city fans have been behind their new high-profile signing by buying replica shirts emblazoned with his name.

"It makes me very, very happy, and I want to repay as much enthusiasm in performing on the field and score many goals for the fans," he added.

Robinho first taste of Premier League football is likely to enter the city home match against Chelsea on September 13.

Man Utd complete Berbatov switch

Manchester United have signed Bulgaria striker Dimitar Berbatov Tottenham face value of £ 30.75m.

Fraize United striker Campbell, 20, moved in the opposite direction on a season-long loan as part of the operation.

Spurs will not pursue their complaint to the Premier League, accusing the United hunting 27-year-old Berbatov.

The capture ends been a long saga that has taken a dramatic turn on transfer deadline day.

Earlier on Monday, it appeared rivals Manchester City were Shatt United hopes after they had an offer of more than £ 30m accepted by Spurs.

The offer was made after the city announced that they were being taken over by the Abu Dhabi, United Group, which has already started throwing its weight around, with bids from several players-profile .

City manager Mark Hughes has declared his intention to talk to Berbatov, but later conceded on BBC Radio 5 Live that his chances of meeting the striker are slim.

"I would like the opportunity to talk to him, but we have not been given this opportunity," he said.

"The young man has made known his intentions for some time [to play Champions League football] and it might be difficult to change its direction."

Real Madrid were also thought to be interested in Berbatov but Real president Ramon Calderon told BBC Radio 5 Live have not made an offer for the player.

Relations between the Spurs and United were far from amicable during this transfer saga.

In July, Spurs submitted a year worth of evidence to the Premier League, in support of their complaint by Manchester United's "scandalous" further ahead.

And until the end on Monday, the White Hart Lane club has confirmed that it had agreed a transfer fee only with the City.

Fellaini signs record Everton transfer


The Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini signed a five-year contract with Everton, his club Standard Liege and the Premier League side announced Tuesday.

The 20 years has accepted an offer worth 15 million pounds (18.5 million euros), which makes him the most expensive transfer in Belgium Footballing history and sets a new record club Everton.

The transaction was concluded at midnight leading the deadline for transfer and announced in the early hours and was preceded by the arrival Louis Saha of Manchester United and Carlo Nash from Wigan.

Chief ai Robert Elston told www.evertonfc.com: "This is fantastic news for everyone connected with the club.

"We have signed a European football's most exciting prospects, which will have a major role to play in Everton over the next five years.

"I spoke with Bill Kenwright and David Moyes shortly after concluding the agreement and they are happy, we managed to obtain his services.

"He came late, like a lot of the big door in the Premier League, but it is with us and we look forward to welcoming to Goodison."

Fellaini joined Liege - Everton, the next opponent in the first round of the UEFA Cup - two years ago and has made 84 appearances for Belgium champions, scoring 11 times.

He also played 10 times for Belgium and has represented his country at the Olympics in Beijing, where he was sent off in the opening game for two yellow cards against Brazil.

Fellaini impressed during last week Champions League qualification against Liverpool where the English club snatched a 1-0 victory against the Belgian champions.

The midfielder dominant 1.94m can also double as a defender.

Everton signed earlier than 30 years, French Saha over a period of two years with an option for a third year.

Saha, whose fate at Old Trafford has been plagued by injuries, has 18 international caps and scored 42 goals during his spell-Unis.

Nash, 34, signed the same deal also did not disclose a fee.

"I have known of Everton's interest for the last two weeks and there have been some sleepless nights hoping he go through," he said.

"He and I'm on the moon."

The caramels, however, missed from 21 years, the Inter Milan winger Victor Obinna after their application for a work permit for Nigeria international was dismissed by the Home Office.

Blackburn capture goalkeeper Bunn

Blackburn have signed goalkeeper Mark Bunn from League One side Northampton for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has signed a four-year deal, having made after making 106 appearances for the Cobblers.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be here - it's a dream cone true really," he told the Blackburn club website.

"I got the medical done on Sunday and today I've signed. It still hasn't sunk in, but I'm really looking forward to meeting all the lads."

Bunn's final game for Northampton was a notable one, with the Cobblers beating Bolton in the Carling Cup at the Reebok Stadium.

In May, Northampton placed a £1m price tag on Bunn following interest from Nottingham Forest, while he also spent a short time training with Manchester City.

Tonge delighted with Stoke move

Michael Tonge has said he is excited about joining Stoke City following his move from Sheffield United.

The 25-year-old midfielder moved to the Britannia Stadium for a fee of £2m on transfer deadline day.

Tonge told the BBC: "I'm really looking forward to it, it will be a big challenge for me that has come at a time when I need a fresh start.

"I will go out and give my best for Stoke, it will be hard but hopefully we can stay in the Premier League."

The former Manchester United trainee has spent all of his professional career with the Blades and admits it will be strange playing for another club.
"To be honest it's not sunk in that I've left, it's become second nature to be at Sheffield United," said Tonge.

"I'm sad to be leaving a fantastic bunch of lads and I wish them the very best for the season."
