Hammers sign Uruguayan defender

Crisis-hit English Premier League side West Ham on Friday signed Uruguayan left-back Walter Lopez, the club announced on its website.

The 22-year-old joined the managerless London club on a free transfer having left River Plate of Argentina during the summer.

“Walter is a very attacking full-back who can get forward,” caretaker manager Kevin Keen said.

Lopez, who has won three caps and was a free agent, is West Ham's fourth signing of the summer, joining Valon Behrami, Balint Bajner and loanee Jan Lastuvka.

He joins a club still reeling from the resignation of manager Alan Curbishley on Wednesday.

Donadoni reported to having had interview at West Ham United

There are rumours flying around London that suggest that former Italian coach Roberto Donadoni has flown into London for an interview at West Ham’s Upton Park.

Donadoni was sacked after Euro 2008 by the IFF (Italian Football Federation).

The former Italian coach is one of many people that have been linked to the Hammers job after Alan Curbishley resigned from the club earlier in the week.
