Southgate and Deco clinch awards
Chelsea star Deco and Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate has been named the Premier League player and manager of August, respectively.
Deco gave a moment following its impact £ 8m move from Barcelona.
And Southgate's side are currently sixth in the table and a point behind leaders Chelsea after winning two of their three opening League.
This is the first time Southgate has claimed the monthly price since taking over at the Riverside Stadium in 2006.
Boro beat Tottenham and two Stoke City 2-1 at home, but they lost to Liverpool by the same score.
Southgate became the only person other than Stuart Pearce to win both the player and manager of the month prices during their career, after being named player of the month in January 2000, while Aston Villa.
It is also the first to collect the Middlesbrough manager Terry Venables prices since he won in January 2001.
Southgate said: "I think it is a great honour for me, not only for me but for everyone in club football.
"It is an honour I am quite accept on behalf of myself and my staff because what we have achieved so far was a team effort.
"I think the award is to reward the hard work put everyone here during July to prepare for the new season.
"We have a close-knit club and everyone gathered here, and I include players as well.
"There is a good atmosphere around the club at the moment and around the city, and long-May continue."
