Ferguson also expressed his disappointment with the reaction of certain officials of Middlesbrough, who complain that Pogatetz apparently received a network adapter for the foul.
"They Screaming bench that it was not a sending and there is nothing wrong with our player," added Ferguson.
"At least Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate has been very good about it. I apologized and understand the seriousness. "
Southgate grant Pogatetz deserve to be sent.
"We can have no complaints about the decision," he confirmed.
"It is difficult to know why it happened. It was an aberration unusual for him because his discipline has improved over the past two years.
"A couple of guys on our bench does not have the same view as I did, but is now treated. We can only hope that the young man recovers."
Pogatetz will miss the next three matches Middlesbrough, while Southgate could take disciplinary action.
