Knee injury ends season for Reid
Blackburn injury of midfielder Steven Reid suffering miss the rest of the season with a knee problem.
The Republic of Ireland international requires surgery and should be six or seven months.
Rovers manager Paul Ince told BBC Radio Lancashire: "The doctor tried everything to get this right.
"This is a huge blow because he is an integral part of my side. He has great experience and I wanted to play him on weekends."
Reid, 27, Blackburn has missed the last four games and was forced to sit on his country winning the World Cup qualifying against Cyprus on Wednesday.
He missed the 2006-07 season with a stress fracture of the back and then cruciata injury knee ligament.
Ince said: "I'm Gutted for Reidy. It is a big boy and he always wants to give his all for the club.
"It is disappointing, we are all disappointed, but I hope it will have made the operation and return with Flying Colors," he added
Reid, will travel to Colorado, USA, early next month to the extent of the injury evaluated by the surgeon Dr Richard Steadman.
David Dunn with the button for four months with an Achilles injury, Rovers manager Paul Ince's central midfield options are limited for Saturday in the Fa Barclaycard Premiership trip to Bolton.
Roque Santa Cruz is also doubtful with a Hamstring injury, but Benni McCarthy, Vince Grella and goalkeeper Paul Robinson are all in shape.
