Everton suffer fresh Vaughan blow
Everton striker James Vaughan is not even until early 2009 after injuring his right knee in training.

The 20 years old, who had an operation on his left knee earlier this year, will again undergo surgery.

"James twisted his right knee last Friday," Everton head physio Mick Rathbone told the club website.

"It will be until the new year. The only saving grace is that this is not the knee he had so many problems in the past."

Vaughan had an injury-plagued career with Everton and has just returned to first team action after recovering from an operation.

He missed the start of last season after dislocating a shoulder in a pre-season friendly at Preston and a major artery in his foot in Bolton during the previous campaign.

Rathbone added: "This is a terrible shame for James after all the problems he had in the past, but unfortunately that football."
