Belhadj earns Portsmouth contract
Portsmouth have signed defend Nadir Belhadj on a permanent contract after a successful loan spell at Fratton Park.
The 26 years Algeria has signed a four and half year deal after Pompey agreed a fee of £ 4.4m for French club Lens.
Manager Tony Adams told the Portsmouth website: "I am delighted to have obtained Nadir as a signature - this is an excellent acquisition for the club.
"He has great pace and energy and is an excellent cross the ball, too."
As shines in defense, Belhadj also scored twice in his 23 appearances so far this season.
Adams added: "Even Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said his ability to spring from defense to attack so quickly.
"For now, he plays left back and developing a good relationship with Niko Kranjčar, but I can also play left midfield."

Drogba lost his football passion
Côte d'Ivoire and Chelsea Striker Didier Drogba grant, he started this season with some passion for football.
"This summer, I had no head for football, I completely lost the fire" he told France Football magazine.
"I felt completely extinguisher. For the first time in my career, I lost the passion for football. I was lost."
Drogba, 30, also said he understood why the Premier League top scorer Nicolas Anelka has been starting games in front of him, leaving him to start on the bench.
"For the moment, I can only remain silent," he added.
"It's not because I have been here for over four years that I have the right to make requests to be in the starting line-up.
"Currently, there is a guy who is hot and racking up goals. I have to wait my turn. "
But Drogba has suggested that Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari pair him with Anelka in attack more often.
"I always said that I was happy that Nicolas came to Chelsea but I still can not understand why managers are afraid of us put together," said Didier Drogba.
