West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola is set to welcome midfielder Kieron Dyer after 17 months of injury for Saturday dismissal of FA Cup tie against Barnsley.
The 29-year broke his leg in a Carling Cup tie at Bristol Rovers in August 2007 and suffered a stress fracture even earlier this season.
But the England international has impressed in training this week and is ready to be included in the weekend.
"It is focused and he is very excited to play," said Zola.
"It has worked well in recent weeks and we will try to return because it is an important player. I saw the training, it tries very hard and has great qualities.
"I know it was a big injury for him and I know it's frustrating because it is training, training, training and I would like to play.
"After such a long time, it would be difficult for him to be involved from the beginning."
Dyer has made three appearances for the Hammers since completing a £ 6m move from Newcastle in August 2007.
