Neal has hopes for defender Agger
Former Liverpool defend Phil Neal says Daniel Agger needs time to develop a partnership with Jamie Carragher defense in the red in the weeks to come.
Agger now appears likely to give a chance Rafa Benitez's side after Martin Skrtel knee injury.
"It is now Daniel Agger to form a partnership, if it can be lucky with Jamie Carragher," said Neal BBC Radio Merseyside.
"He needs to give Rafa a selection problem when Skrtel is available."
The 57-year former full-back also believes that the Reds recent 3-2 victory over Manchester City was a defining moment of their season.
He recalled when he and his teammates had things to collect at silverware.
"It's a huge thing," says Neal.
"We had to do several times, but not too many thank you God. I think that gives you the strength in the locker room.
But the man who helped Liverpool to three European Cups in his time at the club warned it will take the efforts of the whole squad if they are successful.
"These are people waiting in the wings this issue.
"If they are determined, when their half chance to Rafa, they want a share of success.
"They want some action now seeing us a fantastic start in Europe."
