'Slow' Alonso snubbed by Juventus
Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri revealed he rejected the possibility of signing midfielder Xabi Alonso from Liverpool in the summer because it was "too slow".
The Spain international Juve described as a "big club" Amid reports that the Italian giants were in talks with Liverpool on a £ 16m move for him.
But Ranieri said: "It left me perplexed by the slow movement.
"I would have found it difficult to support our line midfielder as our wingers do not like to support Liverpool."
Alonso starting from Liverpool was thought to be linked to manager Rafael Benitez desire to sign Gareth Barry of Aston Villa.
That deal failed to materialize after Reds' hierarchy has refused to sanction the great movement of money, which means Alonso remained at Anfield.
However, 26 years, has re-Ignited his Liverpool career this season, plays a major role in the red "progress to the second in the rankings with five wins from seven matches.
Ranieri maintains, however: "He is a player in the midfield Liverpool Rafa, where all soldiers are small, is in a fantastic position."
Juventus, who signed the Christian Poulsen Denmark instead of Sevilla, 11 are currently in Serie A with two wins of their first six matches.
