Kinnear fears Owen Newcastle exit
Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear admits he was not convinced to persuade Michael Owen to stay at St James' Park during his address shortage during the summer.
Kinnear will sit down with the attacker on Tuesday to discuss a new contract.
But Kinnear told the BBC: "I am quite confident all the others, but Michael is another kettle of fish."
Owen, 28, has already put his finger room "unrest" as the reason for the delay in the adoption of a new contract with the club.
After former manager Kevin Keegan's controversial exit in September, owner Mike Ashley Magpie put on sale but was unable to find a buyer.
"We had some meetings earlier in the season and things went well," striker Owen, 28, told BBC Sport in early December.
"Then the manager left as someone on board who we were negotiating with - negotiations have not resumed since."
Owen, who could walk from the club for free at the end of the season, said: "They have more things to fry than sorting my contract or contracts by Steven Harper, Shola Amoeba, Mark Viduka and Nicky Butt - There are many people out of contract. "
Owen also commend the work of his successor Keegan Kinnear, who recently signed a contract as manager of Newcastle until the end of the season.
"We need someone to steady the ship - there were so many around the club this season, as well as other seasons, it seems to attract unwanted publicity," said Owen, who scored Premier League six goals this season.
"He came and you had a stabilization influence on the club and has done very well.
"We are very difficult to beat - we've had a lot of draws and if we can transform these victories we are on track."
