Keegan may be offered a 5% stake in the club bid to persuade him to return for third a spell at the helm.
The temporary boss Joe Kinnear revealed on Thursday, much less than eight consortia had been in discussions with owner Mike Ashley about buying magpie.
The South African group are the pioneers, and it could be set at the end of the contract a few weeks.
